The Trâm Takeover
There’s a dork in our community. She’s making a big difference. Her name is Tram (read her story).
When she first joined Dork Dancing months ago, she came off a bit unsure and shy. She didn’t really know what to think of Dork Dancing, but found it interesting. Soon she decided and shared: “yea this is pretty cool.”
Bit-by-bit Trâm gained comfort and confidence #dorkdancing with us out in public. After a number of days, she started trusting and enjoying the process more and more, along with the dorks (at first strangers) she was dancing with. Over time, Tram made really good friends like Thai, Lan, and Bora.
Dancing with Trâm, over the course of months, has been an incredible journey. Not only has she grown out of her shell, but she’s growing into a real leader. She is deciding to elevate her role in the community by becoming a Dork Dancing host. Yesterday was her very first day. She showed us what’s up.
She rolled out onto the streets with speakers in hand. She pulled out the mic. And BAM. This voice is no longer silenced: speaking, dancing, DJ’ing for mental health. With butterfly pants and a prepared playlist, Tram was ready to go.
Dork-by-dork, we came, Trâm sparking conversation with us all, appreciating our decision to join. Tram, jumping side to side, making eye contact, smiling, with and for dork dancers. Tram knows what it takes to be a Dork Dancing host: good energy, good vibes, good music.
There’s a reason why nearly 30 dork dancers decided to join us on Friday. We were there for Trâm. We love what she’s about, who she is, and how she gives back. Trâm is an unsung hero of sorts, the kind of person who may go unnoticed but does things that helps others, consistently. While maybe shy at first, she is full of personality, kindness, and humor. She keeps her friends close, including dorks, because they make a big difference to her. She really cares about others, about us.
Trâm has shared quite a journey and it’s been incredible to witness. Yesterday marks the start of a new era for her. Instead of the shy stranger, now she’s the proud host, helping new shy strangers break free, too. We are proud of her, and excited for the new energy and mixes she will bring.
It’s quite clear: Lil Trâm carries a pack of power: small on the outside, big on the inside. Watch out for her on Fridays at 5PM on the beach. It’s the Tram Takeover.
