Claim the Joy Inside
Did you know that “Be a Dork Day” is a national (soon to be global!) holiday to discover and celebrate your inner dork? The date: July 15th!
At Dork Dancing, we hope to meaningfully contribute to this holiday by encouraging people to embrace their quirks, dance freely, and let go of fear and judgment.
We aim to transform embarrassment into empowerment and create a world where everyone feels safe to be fully themselves—awkwardness and all.
Through playful movement, laughter, and unapologetic dorkiness, we aim to spark connection, spread positivity, and remind each other that our weirdness is our superpower.
Let’s Celebrate…
By Organizing a BIG Dork Dance Across ALL our Dork Dancing Locations!
OH yea, dress like a Dork (dress silly), or be SQUARE.
How to Celebrate Be a Dork Day with Us if You’re Not Able to Attend Our Live Events
(July 15th)
Ready to embrace your inner goofball?
Here’s how to join the movement, shake off the shame, and dork out loud:
1. Do a Dork Dance
Put on your favorite song and move like no one’s watching—or like everyone is and you just don’t care. No choreography. No rules. Just joy. Bonus points for dancing in public or inviting others to join!
2. Wear Your Weird
Bust out that funky shirt, those wild socks, or that hat you’ve always loved but never had the “right occasion” for. Today is the day to be proudly, visibly you.
3. Laugh at Yourself
Tell a corny joke, share an awkward story, or post a throwback photo that makes you cringe and smile. Your dorky moments are what make you relatable and real.
4. Start a Dork Dance Circle
Grab some friends or coworkers, hit play on a feel-good track, and have a 2-minute dance break. It’s a great way to shake off stress, connect, and spark joy.
5. Give Someone Permission to Be a Dork
Compliment someone’s quirks. Invite a shy friend to dance. Share your joy so others feel safe to do the same. Being dorky is contagious—in the best way.
6. Post Your Moves with #BeADorkDay #DorkDancing
Spread the movement online! Tag your dance, your outfit, or your dorkiest smile with #BeADorkDay #DorkDancing and help us flood the internet with joy, not judgment.
At the heart of it all: let go, have fun, and be your brilliantly awkward self.
Because the world needs more dorks. And we mean that as the highest compliment.
