How & Why Resilient Dorks Got Started
Many of us want to improve and feel better in life, but it’s easy to fall through the cracks because we often lack the awareness, strategies or toolkit required to make it happen. Self-growth is difficult. This is where Kelsey, a dork dancer and positive psychology coach, comes in.
Self-development is easier with some education and community guidance; growth happens in teams. So Kelsey is introducing a new event to help; the event is called Resilient Dorks and it is designed to help address this need.
Here’s the pitch: Resilient Dorks is a series of recurring workshops, discussion groups, and meetups to provide education on various mental wellness topics so you can gain practical skills that will help you with your mental health management & personal growth journey.
Kelsey designed this event after meeting other Dork Dancers, while planning Mental Health Da Nang. Kelsey met Mily, the host of Dork Meetups, and was instantly impressed with Mily’s self-awareness and positive habits. What Mily does is what Kelsey teaches. Kelsey learned of Mily’s work, with her workbook, and got involved. Kelsey contributed to the workbook herself, helping with new ideas and edits. The more Kelsey contributed, the more potential for creative collaboration became clear.
The synergy was evident. Mily, with Dork Meetups, provided foundation, offering mental health exercises and activities for the community (based on her personal experiences, what worked for her). We could imagine taking things further with Kelsey. She offers valuable perspective from her experience in the mental health field.
So, Kelsey accepted invitation to further collaborate, creating Resilient Dork Workshops. Once a month, Kelsey will provide some education. Three times a month, Mily will host space for Dorks to support one another as a group, working through her workbook at meetups. Tomorrow marks our first ever Resilient Dorks Workshop event, and we are very excited for its potential in delivering impact for mental health.
Clean your mental health like you do your dental health. We clean our teeth twice a day. Let’s give that same level of care for our brains. Before, during, or after brushing your teeth, DANCE.
