HCMC is Ready

Months ago, Zoe introduced Dork Dancing to Ho Chi Minh City. She generated interest online, growing a FB group, and hosted over 5 Dork Dancing events, delivering positive experiences for Dorks in the city. We are incredibly grateful for Zoe and everything she did to introduce Dork Dancing and get strangers familiar with our concept.

Then COVID19 lockdowns hit. Rainy season hit. Stress is now up. Work is still constant. Isolation & loneliness a bigger thing now than before. Dork Dancing is hitting back, taking to the streets once again, this time under the leadership of not one individual but a team of volunteers, for mental health.

Meet Lily. Meet Taz. Meet Angie. Meet Esneri. Meet Tam. This is the start of a team, with Lily taking first leadership. In HCMC, things will look different than in Da Nang, because different places have different cultures, environments, and maps. HCMC is HUGE and people are BUSY.

To tackle HCMC effectively, this will need high engagement from a team and an active and engaged community. Effective solutions and ideas will come from the people who understand the challenges of the community the best — the people living in HCMC. These volunteers will work together to offer Dork Dancing at different times and locations, to accommodate for the wide variety of needs and availabilities. In HCMC, striving for equal access is important.

Lily has fire. And she’s fueling it with good energy from new and old dorks. She met with Zoe and is well-equipped with speakers, banners, and some cards. She already has an event organized for this upcoming Sunday and a supportive group around her.

After some months, we look forward to witnessing the return of Dork Dancing HCMC! Dorks in Da Nang are here as allies to help as we can. We are cheering you on, excited for the journey you have ahead. Its fun, its rewarding, its unqiue, its positive, and impactful. We know something special lies ahead. Its time to turn up the music and just dance!
