Rewind to August 2020: Da Nang, Vietnam was in full lockdown. Because we couldn’t dance on the beach, we went online and we danced together, on Zoom, for 41 days. There on Zoom, our community of dork dancers grew some outside of the city. With a single URL, we reached different corners of the globe and got to meet some new dorks.

Here in this blog post, we would like to introduce Daniel: one of those new dorks we met online from lockdown. Recently he decided to volunteer, hosting #dorkdancing for mental health once a week. Here he would like to say...

“Hi, my name is Daniel. I live in Spain. Last year I was lucky to know "Dork Dancing," through my good friend Olga. She introduced me to Ethan, who showed me the amazing project. And I am so grateful for this.

Since I live in Spain, it is difficult to dance live, in person, with everyone, so dancing online was so great! Not only for dancing together during lockdown, it also is a great idea for dancing if you are in any part of the world. The dork dancing for me is also a way of expressing myself and sharing it, and also for doing exercise!

Do you know the saying: "men sana in corpore sano"? It means, "a healthy mind in a healthy body." And I think it is true.

I hope to see you and share great dances with you!”

Daniel will be hosting #dorkdancing online every Thursday at 8AM EST, which is 2PM in Madrid and 8PM in Vietnam. If you are free and want to try #dorkdancing with strangers, friends, and/or family across the globe, then we will be waiting for you!
