Calling for DORKS

Tomorrow is the BIG Dork Dance, and we are deciding to go…bigger! Yes, that’s the idea of the event: to attract more people, more energy, and more mental health awareness, while sharing a good time dancing out in the open public.

Thus far, we have hosted two BIG Dork Dance events. We didn’t hold much expectations, but if we did, they exceeded them! Here you can read about how the BIG Dork Dance got started and how the first and second event unfolded.

This time, we are trying something different: being a bit vulnerable in announcing/ creating an expectation, or could we say goal? Before we didn’t want to be picky about attendance — so long as it was bigger than normal, that was a success. This time, we want to shoot for something higher. We are calling for 100 DORKS!

This gives us something to root for, strive for, campaign for. And we are coming more prepared. Cameramen from local TV will be there. Our photographer (Olga) and videographer (Marcus), from within our community, will be there. And we hope YOU will be there too!

For those who read this article, you will learn this before others: our music will be louder. We are connecting our speakers. We tried this only yesterday and it worked like magic. We couldn’t believe it. Instantly, the game elevated.

Every time our speakers get louder, the energy bumps up another notch. As we invite the possibility of over 100 dorks, we are also inviting more BUMP.

We have good feelings about this one. We are excited and hope you are too. Weather forecast looks good. Tech seems prepared and people seem to be planning for tomorrow. Hope to see you out there!

Dork Dancing is a grassroots mental health initiative, campaign, and community effort. We depend entirely on charitable giving to inspire impact. We hope you may consider supporting by donating.
