1 Year Goal, Achieved.

Dork Dancing is a simple idea to help address complex problems. Over the course of 7 months, we can confidently conclude that #dorkdancing for mental health works. It affects people positively and makes a real difference, helping people feel better in a number of ways. We have heard countless stories, and danced with hundreds of dorks, to validate our assumptions.

Early on, we didn’t really fully understand the implications of #dorkdancing for mental health. At first, it was an experiment. Would anyone even dance? When dorks joined, it became clear. People were interested. People wanted to dance, openly, for the cause.

Cool. Now, where do we go from here? Dork Dancing has evolved very much by following good energy, one thing naturally leading to the next. Of course, there’s planning, ideas, and a larger vision, but we aren’t trying to control anything. With that being said, we created some goals to outline aspirations for growth and impact.

Here’s the straightforward 1 Year Goal by the numbers:

  • 500-1,500 Dork Dancers, 1-3 Chapters

Well, it’s time to tell ourselves congratulations! We have surpassed the bottom mark of our 1 year goal range. Today, we have an estimated 535 dork dancers, all coming from Da Nang, and we still have 4-5 months to go.

We are curious, where will these months lead us...Can #dorkdancing grow elsewhere? Can we have more than 1 chapter? Can we reach the middle mark, 750 dork dancers and 2 chapters? What about the high mark, 1,500 and 3 chapters? Hmmmm, we have no idea. Only time will tell.

But now, today, we know at the very least we are on track, and maybe ahead of schedule. If we can reach higher numbers, that will set things up more powerfully moving forward, giving us a head start to hit or surpass goals for Year 2.

Anyway, we wanted to check in to share the good news. 7 months into this...1 Year Goal, Achieved.

Dork Dancing is a grassroots mental health initiative, campaign, and community effort. We depend entirely on charitable giving to inspire impact. We hope you may consider supporting by donating.
