Positive Emotions

It’s more than happiness, it’s hope, joy, love, compassion, pride, optimism

More positive emotions, more possibility: it changes who we are cell by cell

Increasing our Daily Diet of Positive Emotions

Better, stronger, more resilient, more socially connected versions of ourselves

We have the ability to purposefully experience more positive emotions. Not easy, but can be done — it requires lifestyle change

Positivity Prescription

  • 3 positive emotions for every 1 negative emotion - experiencing negative emotions is part of it (80% of Americans fall short!)

  • Don’t “be positive” — it backfires! Toxic insincerity (biggest danger, not geninue/ heartfelt)

  • Create the mindset instead: be open, appreciative, curious, kind, real. How positive are you feeling? Recommend taking test each evening for 2 weeks to understand how you are feeling now, then track changes as you make changes.

STEPS to a better day, and cultivating the DORK Mindset, takes practice. It requires lifestyle change. We start our Diet of Positive Emotions with Dancing
